Greetings neighbors!

This week’s newsletter is packed with updates and upcoming events for September and beyond.

The City of San Antonio’s Transportation and Capital Improvements department has sent out an update on the McCullough drainage project. Portions of E. Euclid Ave., Erie Ave. and Brooklyn Ave. will be closed in order to complete asphalt work and sidewalk installation for the McCullough Ave. Area Drainage Project. There are a couple of important City meeting coming up next week. The City is updating the CCHIP & ICRIP incentive programs, and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) is hosting a Community Conversation about Land Use. THCA members will host the monthly book club on September 6th and the 2nd Friday Social will be on September 14th.  The San Antonio Music Showcase is at the end of September. Parking will be a SAC, and pedicabs will be taking attendee to the St. Mary’s Strip. And of course, make sure to mark your calendar for our next public meeting, September 20 at 6:00PM at Eco Centro.

Housing Programs
The Neighborhood and Housing Services Department offers several home repair and energy efficiency programs for income-qualified homeowners. Applications are being accepted as follows:

  • Owner Occupied Repair Program: NOW through September 14th
  • Under 1 Roof, Let’s Paint, and Minor Repair Programs: Beginning October 1st and ongoing (as funding is available)
  • Green and Healthy Homes Program: Ongoing, year-round

It’s your city; make your voice heard! Learn about the proposed Fiscal Year 2019 budget with your friends and family. It’s your chance to meet your neighbors, city leaders, and learn more about city services while enjoying free entertainment, free health screenings, and fun giveaways.

Conservation Society Grants Available
Neighbors who are fixing up their homes may be interested in applying for a grant from the Conservation Society. Grants are typically awarded for $5,000-$10,000, and applications are being accepted from now until September 28. Grants will be awarded in December. You can apply at
Development Incentive Program Changes:

Tobin Hill has been invited to join our neighbors in Dignowity Hill to learn about the proposed updates to the City’s CCHIP and ICRIP incentive programs. The meeting will take place Wednesday, September 5, at 6:00PM at the Healy-Murphy Center on 211 Nolan St.  The Center City Development & Operations Department will present the proposed changes to the Center City Housing Incentive Policy (CCHIP) and The Inner City Reinvestment and Infill Policy fee waiver (ICRIP), tentatively scheduled for City Council consideration in late September. There are a few notable changes to the policy, including revisions that incorporate community feedback regarding future land use. Please click the image below for a link to the Facebook event page.
