Tobin Talk: July 13, 2018

Greetings neighbors!

Since our last update, THCA representatives have met with the developer at E. Euclid and N. St. Mary’s to discuss their proposed plans. We asked for their cooperation as we attempt to move two of the existing houses from their lots, and to salvage materials from the other two. They have agreed to this!

Initially they proposed 30 units in five 7-story buildings, which would require a Plan Amendment to High Density Mixed Use, as well as a rezoning to IDZ.  The Commission recommended denial of High Density Mixed Use, but recommended instead Low Density Mixed Use. This aligns with the Tobin Hill Neighborhood Plan, as well as the proposed Land Use for the SA Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan.

The developer has stayed in communication with THCA throughout the process. THCA plans to meet with them again to discuss a revised plan before their Zoning Commission hearing, which is currently scheduled for July 17.

In other news, Board member, Byron Berkus, has scheduled a Community Clean Up event for the neighborhood on July 28th! He has invited Councilman Treviño to attend as we work together to clean up the garbage on the properties surrounding N. St. Mary’s.

Reminder: our next public meeting is on Thursday, July 26th at Eco Centro. Finally, tomorrow, Metropolitan Community Church and John Hill are hosting a Build Your Own Planter workshop.

Don’t forget: Tonight is our Second Friday Social! This month’s Social is being hosted by Larkin and Rachel. Snacks will be provided, please BYOB.
